International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia
Today – May 17, 2011 – is International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. As stated by US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, “Homophobia, transphobia and the brutal hostility associated with them are often rooted in a lack of understanding of what it actually means to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT).” Ignorance breeds hate and hostility, and sadly, it’s all around us.
