A Never-Ending Battle: Religion vs Sexual Orientation

The battle rages on ... Dalton McGuinty's Liberal Government has introduced anti-bullying legislation, which includes having Gay-Straight Alliances in publicly funded Catholic schools. This legislation is partly in response to the spike in teen suicides related to bullying - more specifically, LGBTQ teens who have been bullied to the point of suicide.

As an LGBTQ ally, I have no problem stating that I absolutely do not believe that sexual orientation - hetero, homo, or bi - is a choice. I think that the idea that being LGBT is a choice is a load of ... y'know.

Another gay teen suicide – RIP Jamey

Another teen has committed suicide over gay bullying. 14 year old Jamey Rodemeyer was found dead outside his family home on Monday, September 19, 2011.

We Live in a Beautiful World!

Good morning, sunshine! Last night's workshop was entitled "Sexual Diversity & LGBTQ" and featured a phenomenal guest speaker. Seventeen youth (biggest turnout yet!), lots of dialogue and plenty of great questions made for a productive and meaningful workshop. My guest speaker gave the youth an opportunity to listen and talk to someone who has "been there" and I am happy to say that they didn't hesitate to take full advantage of her experience and knowledge.
