Having a BA in Philosophy, I have learned a great deal about critical thinking and logical arguments. I've learned the importance of listening to and learning from others ... as well as having the ability to let things go and, at times, agree to disagree.

The Regression of Sex Education in Utah

I must say, I'm incredibly disappointed that this is really happening. The passing of Bill HB363 19-10 by the Senate is absolutely ridiculous. Dropping sex ed from the curriculum all together, enforcing abstinence-only education as the "this or nothing" option, prohibiting teachers from discussing homosexuality AND prohibiting any discussion of contraception. Not to mention the "married and monogamous only" approach to talking about sex and the removal of an optional comprehensive sex ed program.

A Never-Ending Battle: Religion vs Sexual Orientation

The battle rages on ... Dalton McGuinty's Liberal Government has introduced anti-bullying legislation, which includes having Gay-Straight Alliances in publicly funded Catholic schools. This legislation is partly in response to the spike in teen suicides related to bullying - more specifically, LGBTQ teens who have been bullied to the point of suicide.
